Installation
of Large Vinyl Decals
| Caution: The
adhesive Used on these decals is very strong. Once
the decal has been applied it cannot be removed without
destroying it.
(We do not recommend applying under wipers.)
Tools
Needed:
1. Masking Tape
2. A stiff squeegee or straightedge (a credit card works well.)
3. Scissors
4. A tape measure or ruler
Preparation:
1. Clean the surface thoroughly using
rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner to remove all traces of wax
or dirt.
This is much easier than it looks! We will include easy step
by step instructions with your order.. |
Installation:
1. Place the decal in the desired position and hold it in place
with masking tape as shown in (Figure A).
Note: Do not remove the backing paper or transfer paper at this point.
|
|
2. Carefully peel the transfer paper half way back from the backing
paper (Figure B), taking care not to let the decal fold over
on itself, or touch any surfaces (a couple of fingerprints will
not affect the adhesion).
|
|
3.
Carefully cut and remove the exposed backing paper as shown
in (Figure C).
|
|
4.
Begin laying the decal back down. Using the squeegee,
very gently press the decal into place, working outward
from the center (Figure D).
Note:
Use only enough pressure to smooth out any wrinkles
or large bubbles.
|
|
6.
Carefully peel the other half of the transfer paper back (Figure
E). Refer to Step 2 for details.
7.
Remove the remaining backing paper.
8.
Lay the transfer paper back down onto the surface following
the procedures described in Step 4.
|
|
9. Once
the decal has been completely applied, and no wrinkles or bubbles
are apparent, use more force on the squeegee to press out any
remaining bubbles (Figure F).
Note:
Pull the squeegee across the surface. Pushing the squeegee could
easily tear the paper and the vinyl.
|
|
11.
When the decal is completely applied, carefully begin pulling
the transfer paper off (Figure G), starting at one corner and
working across to the opposite corner.
12. Work slowly during this process. Small letters and details
may lift off with the transfer paper. If this happens, simply
press the paper back into place, and press it down with the
squeegee.
13.
Once the transfer paper has been removed, the decal and surrounding
area can be gently cleaned using a soft cloth and glass cleaner.
Do not scrub the decal or use an abrasive cleaner.

Care
and Maintenance:
-
Although
the decal is now permanent, it requires several days to completely
set up. Avoid scrubbing the area around the decal for at least
five days. Do Not use a pressure washer, automatic car
wash, or wax during this time. (After the decal has set up
it is safe to use waxes and automatic car washes).
-
When
washing the decal, do not use scrapers or scrubbing pads on
the vinyl. Use caution when scraping ice or snow off windows.
-
Regular
auto washing detergents should not harm the vinyl. Avoid using
petroleum based products such as kerosene, gasoline, or bug and
tar removers.
-
If
you need to remove your vinyl graphic, heat the
area with a hair dryer and gently scrape the vinyl graphic off
with a credit card.
